The other night for dinner, I made rosemary roasted potatoes for dinner, using these new potatoes I saw at the store. I have a thing for little baby-sized things, especially food. They have these baby pineapples that just turn my heart over. And those little carrots with the trimmed green tops! Gah!
Anyway, back to the tubers. The package I got had these little purple potatoes in there, about the size of your thumb. When you cut them open, they have the most beautiful purple color, with white streaks. They're a little sweeter and starchier than a normal red or white potato. Most importantly, they just plain different from the norm. I was so excited about them that I actually pulled B over to the oven to look at them as soon as he came in the house from work. I was still gushing as we were eating dinner. He laughed at me, saying that I always get excited about the little things.
It's totally true. I do enjoy the little things. Like, the sound of ticking clocks in a quiet house, the feel of a knife on a wood cutting board, the flicker of a candle in it's holder, the feel of the sun on my toes when I water the garden, or the way my tea smells in the morning. I mean, think of how good your life would be if you could be truly thankful for the little pleasures that happen all day long?
