    WHERE THE PLAYA'S PLAY

So it looks like B will be going to Atlanta next week to fill in for another manager for a week, starting next Wednesday. I haven't decided if I'm going yet, it all depends on the quality of the hotel, since he has 3 mid shifts that I will have to stay in the hotel for. We've had a good time when we've done this before, although both of those times were in Orlando. I am having a pretty heavy Eatzi's craving, so maybe I can do sumpin' bout dat.

There have been very quiet whispers of B being sent to Ladder in January, which is Darden's General Manager 'audition' program. Just because you are sent dosen't mean you'll be promoted, but it's a good sign. I told him that he dosen't have anything to worry about, since he's been basically running a restaurant for the past 6 months anyway. I think we've also (or at least I finally have) realized that moving to Orlando just isn't in the cards if B wants to be promoted. The company is not going to put a green GM in a Florida restaurant, everything's just too messed up down there right now, and we really need to be promoted, hopefully within the next 6 months to a year. Our school loans all go up in the first 3 months of next year, and I'm pretty worried. I mean, we always figure out some way to take care of everything and still live our lives, but it's going to be sticky.

So it looks like we can move anywhere we want to, as long as it's in the Altanta metro area. I mean, this is all massive speculation at this point, but apparently, if B's smarmy District Manager can be believed, his replacement has just been hired for Savannah. It could just be a lot of hooey. I stopped believing what the company tells me, that is, until it actually happens for sure.

Needless to say, I spent a little time yesterday afternoon checking out the housing scene in the Atlanta area. Yowza. Our little steaming pile of an apartment here is starting to look like a freakin' castle in the sky: 950 sqft.; 2BR, 2BTH; 2 walk-in closets; wood burning fireplace; 9' x 12' wood porch with outdoor storage; washer/ dryer in unit; dishwasher and pantry; located on the upper floor, on the corner with a great view out all windows, especially the porch; with pest control and trash included: $750/ month. Now, the cost of living is a bit high here in Skevannah, so maybe it'll all balance out with utilities, but our apartment in Atlanta would probably be upwards of $1200 a month, depending on how long of a commute it would be to the city. Argh. And the drivers are even more insane there than here.

Who knows what will happen. Any input or positive thoughts would be appreicated by those in the know.
