    HOME SWEET HOME

It's amazing how leaving the town for even a couple of days can make such a huge difference in my outlook. I was ready to start climbing the walls before we left, and now I'm feeling relaxed and centered again.

I love leaving for awhile, 'cause it gives you fresh eyes. I get so used to seeing everything around me, that it's refreshing to look around and actually feel somewhat inspired, even if all that really does is get me off the couch to dust and vacumn. I see everything in a new light. It only lasts for a few hours, but it's great while it's here.

I was driving southside to pick up B last night at low tide and the smell that came through the vents as I drove through the marsh - that salty, earthy, ocean smell - made my heart turn over. It's strange. I love it here so much. I mean, driving here sucks, the cost of living is pretty high, sometimes the paper mills make downtown smell like rotten cabbage and the quantity and of quality of goods here is pretty sad. But the way the light looks as you drive over the marsh in the early evening makes me so happy. It just makes everything look so green and gold and sparkly. I'm still surprised at how lush the plant growth is here, especially on I-95, and the architecture and gardens downtown are just so seductive and beautiful. I never thought I would love a place as much as I love Montana, but aparently, I've been seduced by the south.
