Or at least that's what I thought I heard as the non-english speaking paint crew barged onto my porch at 7AM this morning. B said it's very strange to open your front door first thing in the morning and be eye to eye with a Mexican man painting the wall.
Did I mention they did the same thing yesterday? Oh, yes. Except yesterday I thought they were the power-washing guy and vaulted out of bed at the sound of my patio chairs and grill being scraped across the decking, quickly threw on some clothes and ran outside to pull the stuff inside so it wouldn't get wet with cleaning solution, which is leaving this weird residue on the walls. I'm sure they thought I was loco, because as they were moving the buckets and brushes upstairs, I got confused and asked them why they were here, because it (very visibly) hadn't been cleaned yet. "We paint today." Really. I tried calling the office but since IT WAS 7AM nobody was there. I went back out to remove the temp gauge from the wall and asked them, as they were scraping the paint and filling the 20 year old nail holes, I asked them, like the dumb bitch that I am, "Y'all are really going to paint if it hasn't been cleaned?" They just nodded. And I just got to sit and steam for 3 hours longer than I normally do in a day.
I am more than a little groggy. I couldn't sleep through the ruckus outside, so I moved to the couch and caught a couple more Z's until 9AM. Now, I'm not kidding myself. I know I have quite a luxury in not having to get up and leave the house to go to work every morning. Late to bed and late to rise has always been my motto. But seriously. And they didn't even do a very good job. There's paint all over the decking, and they barely painted one of the new pieces of wood. I know it's not really my apartment, and I should leave that to the office to worry about, but I just hate people who do a half-assed job. Not to mention that I have to look at it every day.
But hey, at least today I can get all the plants and extra furniture back outside! Hallelujia!
